you should know about me

Posted: October 13th, 2010 | Filed under: life | Tags: | 10 Comments »

I’m speaking at the Relevant 2010 Conference next week. I’ll be around a lot of people I’ve never met and I don’t talk a lot, so here is my cheat sheet for those wanting to get to know me:

  1. I’m five feet tall.
  2. I’m not shy or stuck up. I’m quiet.
  3. Don’t ask me where I’m from. It’s a long story that starts with my mom being a gypsy, has 11 foster homes in there somewhere and ends up with me saying:Β ‘I was born in Utah, but never lived there. I’ve lived everywhere, but nowhere long enough to dig in roots. I don’t think I want roots, maybe too much of my mom in me. So, yeah, I’m not really from anywhere, but I live in Missouri for now.’
  4. You should know why I write.
  5. I like to have the kind of conversations you need to take your shoes off for.
  6. I clip coupons and forget that I have them.
  7. I have four little girls and they’re my favorite part about me.
  8. I’m misunderstood often enough to keep my walls up until I know you ‘get me.’
  9. I have four tattoos.
  10. Humor is the key.

If you don’t usually fit in, if you’re quirky and/or if you have a ‘past’, come find me.

Love it! I was so blessed to have found you online..and thanks to Sarah Mae of course.. I have spoken of you to all my local friends and I'm thrilled to get to meet you. I used to clip coupons and forget them too..so I stopped wasting my time. haha

I like this blog post..I may have to do one like this too. I have 2 roomies that barely know me at all. πŸ™‚

I bet you and I could sit in a room and sip coffee together and say nothing at all and just be content and happy without the awkwardness of 'having' to say something..and we'd walk away saying what a lovely time we had.

I'm saving some "shoes off" time just for you.

Thank you for being a speaker Serena – so honored!

Lisa: I can't wait to meet you! Yes, do a post so I can have a cheat sheet for you, too!

    Can't wait, Sarah Mae! πŸ™‚

    Love it!

I've been wondering if I'll fit in at the conference. I'm not much of a "girly-girl" – I don't like crafty things or care about cute bags. I prefer Best Buy, running or a bookstore to the mall.

4 days with 200 women. Sounds fun and a tad overwhelming.

Hope I get a chance to meet you.

Kat: definitely find me! I'll be the one sitting in the back, sipping coffee and wondering if I'm the only one who forgot her deodorant.

Although I'm not going to this conference (have looked at it from time to time), I can't help but think I too would be in the back drinking coffee (never wear deodorant–what does that say about me?) and the craft corner would most likely be out.

Kamille: Some of us just don't need it (deodorant) πŸ™‚ I think it's because we were born smelling like angels. I'm pretty sure angels smell like cotton candy. Almost positive.

    I love this Serena! I can't wait to meet you this week. I sent you an email, and missed one from you a long time ago {blush}

I love how you just put it all out there and are REAL! I could listen to your YouTube videos all day. πŸ™‚

    Awesome!
