Don’t be afraid… -Isaiah 54:4

He tells you not to be afraid, but you feel afraid. It’s not because He can’t, it’s because He might not want to.

He didn’t tell you that everything would work out the way you think it will. He told you to trust Him. Growing, moving, changing, becoming, obeying…. they’re all answers to prayer. But, anyone who has been a believer for very long knows that they all come with a period of nothing. It’s the nothing that we’re scared of.

…you’re not going to be embarrassed. -Isaiah 54:4

In response to the direction of the Holy Spirit, you boldly obey. You put yourself out there in absolute submission and trust.

Don’t hold back—you’re not going to come up short. -Isaiah 54:4

Your confidence in the step of obedience is a direct contrast to the empty space you find yourself in. You wait and listen and …nothing.

Confusion sends you a welcome card. Loneliness stares at you while you empty your moving truck. Fear’s children circle the block on their bikes. Sadness stole the flowers from the flower bed. But, the worst part is when you figure out that your bedding is made by Panic.

Sleepless nights, beds of tears. You’re not the doubter. You’re the one with the unshakable faith, but here you are…. all stepped out and alone. Did you hear wrong? If so, why didn’t He stop you?

The days pass and your furniture starts to make a mark in the carpet. You washed the panic out of your sheets and scented them with submission. You light a candle of trust and bring out your box of truth to go through your old letters. Among the old letters, you find a new one. It’s sitting right on top, as though He knew that you’d need it if you had to open this box.

As you read, you know you weren’t crazy. You’re going to be okay.

I’m about to rebuild you with stones of turquoise, lay your foundations with sapphires, construct your towers with rubies, your gates with jewels, and all your walls with precious stones. All your children will have God for their teacher—what a mentor for your children! You’ll be built solid, grounded in righteousness, far from any trouble—nothing to fear! Far from terror—it won’t even come close! -Isaiah 54:11-14

Such a great thing to read this morning as I have my cup of coffee. 🙂 And just what I needed to read. My family has been getting ready to go through many changes, and every time I start to get scared, I remind myself that when I do that, I'm not keeping my eyes, my heart, and my mind on the one I need to be – God. He is so faithful!

If two lines could descibe this season of my life, it would be those. Thank you.

Oh how we tend to fear that open space!

I did indeed read from part of "Ominous Commission" as part of my message Sunday on being set apart and sold out for Christ. Your words made an impact, and the entire message was well received. Thank you for allowing me to share!
